Ippiki sums up my opinion too... I really liked Esix. As weird as it is to say, she was far more gender neutral as well, with her gender only sometimes being readily identifiable... and much more *decent* for front page material.

I think what we should do, then, is make a big push for ESIX art. If we can't bring her back, we can at least keep her influence present. Also, MAYBE we can convince to bring her back! with enough support.

Just another +1 here for either a return of ESIX, or an equally neutral (and truly unique) mascot. I don't really have a problem with the cawk or the armadillo -- both are OK in other contexts -- but there's just nothing special about Dylan. He comes off more like someone's new fursona, even down to his name, rather than a clear representative of e621 like ESIX is/was, both in name and design. Also, while I do like my porn here, I've gotta agree that a nice PG mascot is way, WAY better. Even the box placement doesn't cut it imho - let people make stuff like this as fanart. Looking like a logo, matching colors/layout, and a general design that can appeal to most users. Esix doesn't really look like anything except e621 itself, and is therefore a better representative of the site's diversity -- by not really representing anything in particular. Dylan, while cool in my opinion, is pretty damn specific, and thus doesn't appeal to everyone. Esix, on the other hand, could be 'tweaked' by the beholder/artist to be seen as female, male, neutral, etc. If nothing else, she/he/it is basically inoffensive.

I see a lot of unique and beautiful art here. As well as some of gideon's work. Not all of it is pornographic in nature but all of it is rather passionate. Considering all the angst and complaints a mascot search causes(such as all this is causing) purhaps there should just be a frontpage compilation thing of several furry species and genders. It might lower the number of people making with the drama over it all.

They were not particularly put off the the "Furry" part as much as the "Gay" content.

Bdoth suggests replacing the Mascot with a character that is neither male or female and with physical aspects that would not suggest any as well.

Solution: Front page: G Rated + Enter when you have read this warning link. Also multiple Mascots are acceptable.

Well, since everyone else is ranting, I have to say my two cents.

It's NOT a bad mascot. It's exotic, different, and exciting. That being said, he isn't what I had in mind representing E621 (as if that hasn't be said a dozen times prior). As well, a more neutral mascot would have been appreciated, though I've not had any of my friends shy away for fear that the content is gay exclusive.

He's interesting, but something that represents the site as whole would be better appreciated, although I doubt it would appease everyone since this site is known for people bitching about one thing or another. Also, that picture is gigantic...
