    2 predictions:
    1) He's awake and waiting for her next move.
    2) He is actually asleep, she "takes her chance" and in the process he wakes up -> awkwardness -> sex.

    This discussion https://e621.net/forum/show/188088 mentions a method of doing so, but it's not a very elegant solution, and comes short of direct notifications (except for RSS feeds).

    Well look at what @ScaleBag said. It make sense but his body is too upright to be asleep.

    This is the app (short of notifications) I use and it works very well. I love it and use it to favorite and like art I like. It also has a cool swipe feature that allows you to go to the next image.
