I've seen lion anatomy in nature documents. They're a lot smaller and don't poke across their thighs. Sometimes even best artists make small mistakes like this.

Wouldn't Nala technically be Simba's sister since only one male mates all the females and they would then share the same father? Should not all Simba/Nala pics therefore be considered incest?

Realistically Nala would be either Mufasa's or Scar's kid -- there are lion prides where two or three brothers share the females and treat all the cubs as their own. But it's not Disney canon (surprise, surprise!), so we won't tag them as such.
