    in the pokemon games we do see a team rocket member get blasted by a hyper beam from a dragonite and the guy isn't even unconscious, hurt obviously but still up something that would normally KO a weak pokemon.
    Also in pokestar studios when you fight human/humanoid characters they are represented by humans dressed in green screen suits and according to bulbapedia they have 100 in every stat, the Karate fighter having the Huge power ability meaning the guy right here COULD potentially put up a fight with gallade and if he survives this close combat he would be now at a great advantage.
    not to mention drayden WRESTLES his dragons.

    Humans in the pokemon universe aren't the strongest but they aren't the weakest either

    Wow! Brand is a very bold person! he really likes to test his luck with this gallade that just kicked his ass, even going so far as to punch gallade in self defense and challenging him to a fist fight. now, this IS (very) unwise, but it is brave of him to do that, so props to him.

    Gallade is literally built for combat. Trying to fight one as a human is literal suicide. He's lucky he didn't just decapitate him on the spot.
