Maybe Prim is the one who is subconsciously influencing Gothitelle's power. Prim's mother only suggested that she leave after Brand made her abandon her Kirlia disguise and asked her to leave, then Gallade had to get involved because Prim was upset and resented the human because he was breaking her illusions, but it was only after the human cheated on her with Gothitelle that Gallade went full "humans are evil and faithless" jealousy-rage mode.

I think its just mindfuck thats been happening. I mean, as far as i am aware there is no page that says "Your wife cheated on you" So, we really cannot say for sure.
