1: Jon not being in isn't a big deal and never was. The fact that the developers catered to a cesspool minority of people who aren't backing the game and won't ever buy the game is what caused the main backlash of "I want a refund."

2: Everyone has a right to be angry at the fact that the developers are banning users left and right due to the users asking how to get refunded.

TL:DR:

-neogaf bullies playtonic to remove jon "because he's a sexist racist mysogonistic cis white male who is literally hitler"
-playtonic removes jon
-Jon says "welp, hope the game still comes out good."
-supporters and funders say "we don't like how you listened to a bunch of non supporters and not your actual supporters, therefore, I want a refund"
-playtonic starts banning any and all users on the steam page and official yooka laylee forum who ask about refunds
-the one reply was by a blue haired numale who basically said "fuck you, you don't deserve your money back"
-playtonic users continually keep ratting on jon AND the supporters

So tell me again how this is "just about jon not being in the game"?
