Wow these are some good damn Colors you slapped on this old pic

I only did marginal amount of work on this one. Also sorry for not asking permisson to use your artwork for editing like this.

There's actually story behind it starting from this:

Oh my, that's really good. What happened to the Scandinavian flag ones though?

When I started being janitor here, I bumped into one of those colored posts. From thumbnail it didn't initially look bad, because the lineart was good and areas for colors made sense, but actually opening it it was immidiately clear how badly it was made.

Every line that was not solid had now been hastily drawn over and some new lines made in similar manner in places which make absolutely no sense, just to be able to use bucket fill tool on same layer that lineart is (pretty sure everyone remembers playing with MS paint as kid and bucket fill always escaping that one pixel hole in lines) and everything was handled in way that original details were destroyed and parts where there was supposed to be nothing were also colored. Topped of with white pixels along outlines in some areas and of course massive JPG compression as well. Everything looked like something I would maybe manage to do in MS paint in couple minutes, which means it's far from acceptable level of edit here. After asking and sorting things out, in the end all five versions were deleted for being really low quality edit. After that, earlier posts by the user were deleted for same reason. Fun fact, over half of the deletions under this artists tag came from those bad color jobs and many images were colored several times.

When I was talking with other staff members about the color jobs and edits, I actually did color this particular image myself to make my point clearer. I made similar type of basic flats, but actually decently, simply to highlight the issues that there was. I think my aim was to also send it to user who did the uploads, but simply forgot to do that. I do not mind helping if I do know something about something.

Fast forward to this day, there was discussion going on about acceptable edits on IRC, which then reminded me of this situation and even found the color I made from my puush account. Explained how even if edits and colors are accepted here, they still need to be bit more than just adding speech bubble, using eraser or cropping tool or bucket filling in paint. At this point I humored myself on instant messenger with idea of simply uploading the thing here as example of bear minimum requirement for standards with coloring jobs. However at the same time, I realized that the image was furaffinity downscale to begin with and that artist has actually proper PNG uploaded on their tumblr account. So with that, I said I would only replace the FA downscale on here with proper version (which is now post #1256050) and would leave it at that.

Forward several hours, this image popped up. Seemed to turn out so good that it felt pretty pointless to not upload it.

Holy crikey, did not expect such a long answer. But yea, I'm pretty sure I got an answer from that.
