MemberThe game never happened. After Mae made the logs fall in the prologue, she was in a coma after that, laying in a ditch, playing over the events she figured she'd be doing as the story goes on.
The only questions are if anyone ever found her and if her memories are correct about anyone else.

MemberHere I was after accidentally stumbling on a video giving the cliched theory that Mae was actually dead, then I read another cliched theory about how Mae suffered through a coma. What's next?

MemberWell, it's just my guess as her nightmares just get worse and weird stuff happens with little to no explanation and the whole idea of her getting back with her friends just has her replaying things that happened last she was there like she never left.
However, yes, Mae most likely is due to her "disconnecting" with how she felt about people "just becoming shapes", so she mercilessly beat a person with a baseball bat because she couldn't see him as a person.
