Art is also an expression though. It's up to creator how they want to create their characters. Besides this is drawn and colored a lot better than other things I've seen. The contrast in colors work well to offset the deeper shades while still being a dim lighted artwork.

I miss when this fandom was about animal characters given human traits/human characters given animal traits. Now it's about who can try the hardest to make their character original by adding strips, unnatural colors and glowy bits.
