  • My extremely tiny pony. 4'8" at the withers is the cutoff point for pony vs. horse apparently, and wouldn't AJ be at the top end of that?

  • Consider that the ponies in My Little Pony shows are usually teenagers (10-14 or whatever human years) or something, so they're smaller than adults :P

  • I heard that the're supposed to be in their early 20's. It just makes them all really short, or maybe its just a tall guy.

  • Look at the size of the ponies in relation to other critters, like Rarity's cat, or bunnies. Waist high is about right.

    Fifteen hands or higher is a horse. Fourteen or less is a pony.

    'Teenage' horses/ponies actually are either at or slightly under their final height. Also, minaiture horses exist. However, it is unlikely that that's waht we see in the show.
