I wonder where the Zoroark-real-face-taboo thing comes from, since AFAICT it's not canon...

Medicham: "All three of you are human?"

Wes: "Look, some pink genie-thing tricked us into becoming Pokemon! All we wanted was to see the boss kitty!"

Lopunny: "Sure you did. Just please don't litter while you're here. Unspoiled nature doesn't exactly un-spoil itself, you know."

I think that Zoroark thing was just an attempt to world build their culture, but it left me wanting to know more.

I felt similarly, but then so much of VF is taken directly from canon that it's a bit weird to see original lore here.

Could end up being a setup for something later, too. Either N doing illusion stuff, or (IMO more likely) Wes acknowledging that Pokemon are more complex beings than he's given them credit for.

(I strongly suspect that's going to be Wes's arc in all this. Even though he's a good guy and has fought on behalf of Pokemon, we've been dropped many hints that he still basically thinks of them as animals.)
