I personally don't see the big deal. If someone's happy to be first person to comment on something, let them be. :l

Nah, I'd rather encourage people to think originally when they converse instead of mindlessly regurgitating a trend as fast as they possibly can.

I'm sorry, without judging myself. Why would it be so hard to just ignore someone reaching a goal for him that was important enough to comment about? Just asking.

Because in their skewed values, they believe that it is important enough to comment about when it is, in fact, not.

first collapsible section on this page I feel special

Let's pretend it is important for a second here. If they got the first comment, they really only deserve it if they left a comment with content inside it. If the only thing they could think of is "I am first to comment", they don't deserve that comment because anyone anywhere could have contributed more than that because it contributes NOTHING. If they don't think of anything in time before someone else comments, then they didn't deserve the position of the first comment because the person who actually did come up with a coherent thought first deserved that first comment.
The want of being 'first' is inherently childish, seeing as being first offers no advantages aside from making yourself feel good that your name comes up first. Everyone now has to see your comment and scroll past your noise just because you wanted to feel special. Congratulations, you happened across this empty comment section. The fucking stars have aligned for you. What do you do with this opportunity? "Hey, everyone. I commented first!"- No. Shut up and try harder.
As to why it's so hard to ignore, I guess it's because we're all supposed to be adults here with the same childlike perversion of fantasy creatures so when we call out in a form of communication, I expect more than a 'LOOK AT ME' comment.

tl;dr The minuscule effort that it takes to scroll past a 'first' comment is more effort than it takes to conceive that comment.

  • honestly, IDGAF about "first" comments. I come on here, speak my thoughts on the page (or reply to another's comment), and leave. simple as that. or at least try to think of a shitty joke like everyone else
