You know how it goes, you go on a summer camp for two weeks, and your pet dog's been upgraded to your little sister.

Wait, they found her? The previous drawings said she was adopted. So then doesn't this mean they basically kidnapped a toddler (Granted, not on purpose since they thought she was just a normal dog) who had gotten lost from her parents?

Don't take what people say 100% literally, in fiction and real life. If say they where looking for a dog before he went to summer camp they could say they found her without meaning they literally picked her up off the side of the road.

Parents could also be dead. Heck, they could’ve gotten her from a kennel for all we know.

I could see this as possibly being a concept for a TV show. Family adopts/finds a highly intelligent dog and becomes family in the human sense.

Finding a stray dog and taking them home/taking care of them is a form of adoption. And its possible. But considering she was a stray, her parents maybe dead or abandoned her. Plus it can be inferred from the "wtf" faces of the humans in images featuring her that talking/human level intelligence dogs are not an everyday thing, so her biological parents may have just been normal dogs or her adoptive parents may have not realized they essentially kidnapped her.

Her parents being dead or having abandoned her is definitely a possibility, but not to much her biological parents having been normal dogs. This is based on the Twokinds universe, her species looks like a normal quadruped animal the first few years of their life before they start maturing and becoming bipedal.

Tom never said that the dog is a Keidran, nor that this is set in the Two kinds universe. In the 2nd pic, where she is obviously older, she still has the body of a normal dog, Keidran's become more human like by that age.

I saw something like this in an anime long ago. The protagonist dad found a little kitty and gifted it to his son, only to find out that as she growed up started to show signs of human-like intelligence, even standing in two legs. The name was Bagi the monster of mighty nature, one of my favorites.
