dunno if my furthark is lacking but for the life of me I dunno what that one character is on the bottom left (after the beoric and laguz, looks sorta like laguz but the crook is longer with another angle) so all I'm gettin is a "B L ? T - L N M" which i don't know how right that is and oh my god i am a fucking nerrrd

ultima underworld never prepared me for this

Granted, few or no symbols in history are pure in creation or use. The original viking and slavic symbols and language were made by people who took and sold slaves around the meditation and north atlantic. The old norse and old slavs were a bane to the rest of the world at that point (unless you were a Christian king who purchased them as mercenaries)

I think youre also forgetting lucy is inherently evil/dark. So evil symbols existing isnt "cool and edgy character design" its in her nature...

ick. black sun. nope to that nazi symbol.

it's been quite a few years but i do wanna say that YES this symbol has its origins in nazism. modern pagan and occult circles use it as an esoteric symbol, but it does originate from nazism. however, from all i've seen of hlad's work, i'm gonna take a swing in the dark that he didn't know that and assumed, like most people do, that it has its origins in scandinavian culture. considering how so many modern pagans, occultists, and of course satanists use the symbol, it's a form of reclamation for people who would've been marginalized and murdered under the third reich.
