    Sted does not really do much backstory on his characters, yet if I dredge the recesses of my brain for the bits he has dangled, methinks Tommy was a little billy goat of such purity and kindness, Lucy tried corrupting him, as any daughter of Satan should.

    Thus far, Tommy (near sainthood as he is) has gently rebuffed her efforts, and somehow in the process Lucy has developed an affectionate attachment to him.

    So she is has sort of turned into a demented, all-powerful fairy demonmother who is absurdly protective of the little guy, while still gently prodding him towards the dark side by taking him on her ... misadventures.

    She actually truly cares for the kid, There's hope for even someone like her.
