There's a lot of subtext to this picture. For starters, it seems as if the man is looking in the direction of the viewer, extending a fierce looking kitten. Upon further inspection, the viewer does not appear visible in the reflection of the man's glasses. The kitten on the bottom left is grabbing onto the man as if it is need of help. There is a kitten fleeing in the background and another in the foreground lamenting. The other kitten looking in the direction of the viewers seems almost specter like with glowing yellow eyes. The obvious conclusion is that the viewer is meant to be a vampire. The piece is meant to represent how it is difficult for the viewer of a piece of art to project themselves into a piece and not feel like a stranger to the subject's world. It is unclear from the man's (representing the artist) expression whether he is making a king gesture or something less innocent furthering the feeling of alienation.

Art appreciation class has ruined me... despite the awesome of this picture the first thing I see? Anatomically correct male kitten butt.
