Whether the artist intended it or not is another story (looking at his other works, probably not), but there is christian theological precedent here that makes this symbolically appropriate. There are two possible interpretations:

It was said that servants of Satan (primarily witches) would greet him and show subservience with a kiss to his anus referred to as "osculum infame". Here we have Satan in the opposite role, showing submission to Jesus. If the scene depicted is the pleading in the garden, then this would be appropriate as this is when Jesus ultimately and totally accepts his fate as the savior of mankind.

On the other hand, we could interpret this as being symbolic of Satan's attempted temptation of Jesus away from his sacrifice for mankind. After all, the pleading in the garden ultimately represents fear and hesitance of an otherwise perfect being. And what better representation for the devil's temptations than homosexual activity, considered by Christians to be a vile hedonistic sin.

While not related to the messages above, I like how Jesus is depicted as circumcised while Satan is not. That's some fine attention to detail.
