There were good ideas and great animation, but going from a medieval world to modern / steampunk in less than 70 years was kind of a "turn-off" for me. Too brutal setting changement.
Mildly unfair. They had tanks in the ATLA. Comparable to World War 1 tanks. There was a huge social change in many aspects, but the technological devolopment was not one of them. Keep in mind that more economic resources and ingenuity could be invested into development and reasearch since building with earthbenders and forging with metalbenders is much easier. With the lightningbenders electricity would be safer and more intuitive to handle so it's not strange that also took a leap forward.

I agree with all of that and I remember well the tanks and diverse machinery in ATLA. I didn't say that the technologic leap forward of LOK was incoherent whatsoever, but I sort of failed getting the feeling of being in the same universe somehow. I guess I really liked the setting of ATLA, expected to find the same atmosphere in LOK as well, and couldn't help being a bit disappointed in the end.
I still enjoyed the show though. But if I had to chose, I'd go for ATLA without hesitation. Godamn nostalgia lol

It was rushed, so not all ideas were fully fleshed out.

Yeah. And the protagonist was just so annoying. She was some bratty tomboy. She could've been so much better.

I think a big part of it is that it went from a diverse mix of cultures based off of various Asian and pacific civilizations to a nearly totally homogeneous blend of american and european culture where the only differential is between benders and non-benders within one lifetime.
