A Helping Hand - Page 2

Page 2! Aka: Blue's getting some ideas...

So in case it wasn't already obvious, that journal I did a while back about species was for this comic thingy, and I ended up going with deer because it seemed a surprisingly popular vote, but there were a few other species that popped up more than I expected, so this 'flashback' panel was a good place to throw them in. Bird and Bat were both voted way more than I would have expected.

...the cat was just me picking something random, though.

Some random thoughts- I don't know much about comic convention so for the flashback I just sorta dulled out the colours a bit, I hope it's relatively clear what's going on there.
I have some ideas on how to tidy up my writing, though I've drawn a few pages ahead at this point so it's going to continue to look like a mess for a little while. Please bear with me, I'll keep trying to clean that up. I'm also still figuring out how to best do simplified colouring, hopefully that will improve over time as well!
I decided to stick with the mostly white background for now simply for consistency's sake, but I'm not a huge fan- when the comic changes locations in a few pages I'll try out some different stuff for the BG and see how that goes.
I'm getting fairly comfortable with the blue fellow, but I'm still working out how to draw deer guy. Another thing to hopefully improve with time!
