As folks said, the main appeal of the above situation is, well, casual sex. While no romance or intimacy is tied to it, there also isn't any drama.

Think of when you're hungry; there are times where you'd like to sit down with a rich, succulent meal of several of your favorite sides with a main dish that just smelling it makes you drool and your stomach roar. I think the underlying current is that because so many of us were raised under the banner of "sex is supposed to be special," or even worse, that "sex is a sin and should only be done in one position, in the dark, at night, for the sole purpose of procreation" that the sheer *casualness* of the sex, and the fact that it is done in the workplace during the day, is what really gets peoples rocks off.
