    Yes that's true but that if anything will probably make it even more surprising.

    Oh...oooooh I just had a bad thought. What if Raine IS what happens when Keidrans breed with humans.

    Yes metamorphosis magic was involved but I get a sneaking suspicion that the magic used only partly plays into it. Keep in mind this is the second grand templar in a row tohave this happen. This can't be a coincidence.

    I think Raine has a connection to Trace and/or Flora. That other their quote endquote 'destiny'

    I'm afraid the mechanisms of Raine's birth were different from Trace's and Flora's child. The child of Trace and Flora was only possible because Ephemural allowed crossbreeding between keidran and humans again, while Euchre and Mary bypassed this with Euchres transformation ability.

    True...but I'm still worried Raine exists to set the precedent.

    At the very least we have no clue what her significance is to the story going forward.

    I think it all depends on whether there child has the same magical strength as raine, both of raines parents are skilled magic users. there child could be completely incapable of using magic if she pulls from floras genes

    Whereas Raine was cursed by Ephemural with great magical powers but little control over them as the result of a forbidden relationship, Trace and Flora's baby was allowed by Ephemural and probably plays an important role in his plans. That's why for me it is most likely that he/she will born with special abilities at a level equal to or higher than Trace's.
