BlockedI think he is saying that happiness can be fleeting. Happiness can be as simple as eating dumplings and it can last as long as the time it takes to eat them...or something like that.

MemberSometimes, you have to achieve your goals to realize how hollow they were all along.

MemberIf I may inject my own thoughts into this theoretical discussion on the nature of happiness, it is true that material wealth does not constitute happiness. However, earning said wealth or achieving the aforementioned long term life goals does bring about a sense of catharsis. This is not necessarily happiness, matter of fact that sense of self satisfaction can even be considered separate. Self satisfaction definitely aids in happiness, but the purposed method of being laissez faire with lifes happenings can work as well. Saying this though, the question then must be asked, is it more important to be happy or to be satisfied with oneself?

MemberAny assertion that is based on abstract concepts can hardly be proven by scientific method, therefore it amounts to either belief or opinion and should be treated as such and not as a proof or an absolutely true principle, though it is not necessarily devoid of value or truthfulness, the latter merely cannot be proven. Now cease your pointless pseudo-philosophical rumblings and go eat some dumplings.

MemberRubbish philosophy if happiness is abstract, then nothing is concrete, being fat ugly and poor would class happiest base on the individual's interpretation.
Happiness in life is selfish wants and desires for the individual, maximum pleasure for oneself. What I would do for happiness, is pursuit of happiness with reason then just hedonism.
