  • Well this got dark. Can't wait to see how Mindes tries to talk his way outta this.

Also, I don't understand how setting a FIRE type on fire is torture. I mean, Salazzle literally live in VOLCANOES for pit's sake. At most, it'd just be a mild annoyance.

I'm guessing it's a special kind of fire, because it's blue, and they are using some sort of accelerant (the oil beneath her to set her on fire. Possibly hotter than magma. Burn her black like her normal color variant is.
Also a fire that is blue can HOTTER than magma (3000+ °F vs magma's 2500-2900 °F) so...

Burn scars tend to show up as darker. It's probably a similar thing to what's going on with the Zangoose, just permanently coloring her "normal".

Sorry, got my numbers a bit wrong. Magma reaches 1300 °F to 2400 °F and an upwards of 2900°F, but blue fire, oxyacetylene torches, fires that are blue, can reach 6,300°F, so compare it to magma, you won't get a creature that can naturally resist those temperatures.

Dude what a fucking roller-coaster this comic is.

Try taking a look at some of the earlier pages, they suddenly gain a whole new meaning.

Yeah except she said "Not again..." meaning they've done this before and she's still white as the driven snow, so it's not working. I agree that's probably what they're TRYING to do, but ya have to remember pokemon are pretty DAMN durable.

Though on another note that is a pretty interesting bit of world building. Guess the real reason shinies are so outcasted is because most people are just plain jealous.

  • Crazy how a plot point that made a lot of people think Mindes has retrograde amnesia, the bad memory, actually was just an explanation for why he has ‘remember password’ enabled on such a website. BUT Mindes turned out to be such a disgusting pro he turned that weakness into a way to deceive Ambus further (explaining away the photos).

Crazy how this one page is an answer to every question, and every question has a good answer:

Did Mindes get lucky finding Ambus? No, he was pinged on the app. How had he not been pinged before? He works late at night where no one is about.

Why is Mindes taking so long to ‘groom’ Ambus? Ambus is stronger than him. Why did Mindes not act when they were alone in the forest? The police had just seen Ambus. Okay, but still, don’t things remain normal for weeks afterwards? Think about it—eight pokèmon, shinies, all disappeared while behaving as Mindes’s significant other. That doesn’t even sound possible unless Mindes has an incredibly unique advantage that takes a lot of time to foster.

Scary part is... he’s at 847 points. 800 at 100 per pokèmon, 47 points into whatever he plans to do with Ambus. Please Mindes don’t hurt the shiny boi

Good writing but I’m upsetti spaghetti I tell you what.

  • So I know I'm a bit late...
    But...

Holy. Fucking. Shit. It all makes so much more sense now... Which is a shame, because I was such a big fan of this pair...

I'ma be real, this comic was helping me come to terms with my own bi-sexuality... These next few pages are going to HURT.

This is all made worse by the fact that, I had this feeling that midnes look a bit unstable with his facial expressions and language, but I just assumed that it was just mistakes in the artists style, and shrugged it off... Now I'm wondering if the guy ment for us to get that exact feeling...

  • Part of me hopes that this is because of an investigative operation.
The other, more logical, part of me thinks the opposite.

Now that I think about it, the first option seems completely ridiculous to me now.

  • Okay, everybody got their theories and it's awesome but seems like a lot of you is missing a big question:
If all of those are missing (probably kidnapped) pokemon, Mindes still shares some pictures (of at least, Ambus) in social media, and police should suspect at least something if he's linked to that 'dark zone'
So, how can Mindes stay away of trouble all this way through?
Unless I'm missing something I dunno

I mean, what if the reason for his "Remember Password" feature was that he wanted Ambus to find it out and keep himself out of harms way from the other Shiny Slayers. While the five of the six shown pokemon are being abused, that Ninetails doesn't seem too panicked, and none of them are the ones that Midnes himself "Captured." Who really knows what the requirements are for capturing? The article seems to suggest thinking highly of them, so it may vary between just hair clippings to more gruesome things.

Although I'm super interested in the fact that the site is also tracking Delta pokemon. Didn't expect to see a reference to Insurgence pop up.

  • Holy fuck. I started suspecting something was up back when Mindes was constantly praising Ambus during their first, cause it seemed like Mindes had an insane obsession with shinies. This still kinda comes as a shock, though.

I haven't kept an incredibly close track of it all, but...

    Backstory

Ambus was a shiny Rockruff and was bullied over it, which lead to him typically being out at night, which lead to him evolving into a Midnight Lycanroc. Most Midnight Lycanroc are criminals or otherwise delinquents, while Ambus is an upstanding citizen, which kind of alienates him a lot further.
He got himself a job with garbage cleanup, working with Trubbish who simply eat the garbage he gathers up (effectively making them the dumpsters), but this means that he tends to come home rather smelly, another point of alienation.

    Friendship

He met Mindes who really liked his shiny blue coat and tolerated the smell to be with him. While Ambus was initially freaked out by how direct and friendly Mindes was, they ended up becoming friends, even despite their being up at different periods of the day. Eventually, Ambus came home in the rain to find his place being fumigated. Mindes noticed and offered to keep Mindes company--though his own place was too messy or embarassing, so they went to the forest instead.

    Secrets

In the forest, Mindes confessed his feelings for Ambus and commited to actions, but immediately fell asleep afterwards. Ambus however, was still awake. When the phone rang and Mindes didn't wake up, Ambus checked it and found out that the passwords were on remember mode, so he got into it and found a lot of stalker-ish photos of himself. He woke Mindes up to ask, and Mindes said that when they were drunk Ambus agreed to it. Ambus said "yeah okay but don't make them public" and Mindes agreed.
Some time later after another act, Mindes fell asleep again. And here you are.

If I missed anything, I'm sure somebody else can fill you in.

Given it's a site that gives out points, I assume those ones were other "Shiny Slayers." A Shiny Slayer might just refer to fucking them (Slay their virginity), or just be a choice of wording. Maybe they all like shinies so much they like to collect bits of them, such as fur clippings. That Zangoose seems to be being turned into a not-shiny through the application of paint, the Braixen choked, and the Salazzle set on a fire far greater than even magma pokemon are going to tolerate as harmful, but look at the ninetails there. Looks to be relaxed in a bondage situation.

Until further pages, we don't know what's going on here.

He says he's "harvested" oh so many shinies, and they've all been reported missing, some for years. It hasn't been spelled out yet but he almost certainly murders them afterward as well.

We also don't precisely know how much of Mindes' protrayal was acting.

that doesn't help this situation any.

What bugs me the most is that it took such a dark turn, in contrast to the bright beginning. The first couple pages made it look like this was gonna be a cute little male x male comic, but nope.
Also, notice how this page has 45 comments but only a score of 3. I think people feel deceived. I'm gonna be really mad if this doesn't get a happy ending somehow :(

Nah, the artist said on inkbunny that Mindes hasn't murdered anyone. He also said that it was a mistake to write it as "shiny slayer", since "slay" would imply killing, which wasn't his intention.
Also, notice how none of the shines listed as collected by Mindes are the shines that are being abused in the panels below. That dick in the blowjob panel and the arm in the other panel also doesn't belong to Mindes. Those are most likely uploaded pictures from other users of this horrible website...

  • Well on the bright side None of those abusers looked like Mindes as far as i could tell. I mean the ring tone is weird as fuck, but could just be so he doesn't miss a call. Still, seeing all that on the phone of the one you love is quite the....... Minde_Fuck.

  • Oh.

    Hell yes.
NOW this comic has gone from "mild interest" to "has my full attention".

I kept feeling like I SHOULD like Mindes, but also getting uncomfortable vibes from him that I couldn't pinpoint. I suppose we were meant to feel the same way that Ambus has, like something was Off about him, but trying to convince ourselves to feel otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm on Ambus's side here. I do not want him to be raped and tortured. But having to navigate a terrifying situation like this just upped the ante and danger and drama and thus my interest level.

  • From what I understand, i think Mindes is actually "hunting" for shinies with pictures. It's how he gets points, for content.

It makes more sense now as to how he "harvested" 8 shinies.
