A Helping Hand - Page 11

Whoops! Lost track of the days and forgot to upload this this morning. Ah well, better late than never I hope.

It's kind of interesting how, even as the artist, you actually learn things about your own characters as you draw them more. You'd think you just consciously make all the decisions, but sometimes it just sort of happens to you, heh. For example, when I started this I always pictured Gale as the typical sort of very shy, meek sub, but as I've been working on this I realized that, with all the things he's done, he really can't be all that shy. I mean, he's not a literal slave, he's in this relationship by choice, I assume because he enjoys it. Yet he's literally been paraded around up on stage and stuff like that. So while I originally figured I'd be drawing him looking quite shy throughout this comic, he actually ended up being pretty chill, hah.

We see a little bit of that sort of thing here- submissive though he may be, he knows that the buck doesn't have a clue what to do so he's not afraid to take over a little bit, just long enough to get the ball rolling.

We're also in a new area, which means new lighting- I also wanted to experiment with a sort of monochromatic effect I've seen used for dark areas in the past. Didn't quite nail it and the darker colours make things tricky in general- just as I was getting comfortable with colouring the last area too, so we take a few steps down in quality here. Gimme a few pages though and I think I've got it sorted out. :P
