I know you'll likely never see this because you posted that about 4 years ago, but I'd still like to explain.
Plate armor came about around the 1200's, which is when the last of what most people would consider the Crusades were happening, and if we count others besides the Middle Eastern Crusades, they technically were happening all the way up to 1492
