I've been getting messages that people are straight up harassing E621 mods over the Reggie tagging issue. I do not condone this behavior. I don't care if Reggie is mistagged on their website and neither should you.
I don't want to see these people attacked just because they're rules aren't 100% perfect for every submission. A few things are going to slip through the cracks. Don't harass these people because my character isn't tagged right. I don't give a shit

  • Just my opinion here, but maybe the issue isn't about reggie specifically, but that the fact that the tags used in these situations have been inconsistent. I don't like inconsistency, and I don't like uncertainty. However, It seems to me that there isn't really a perfect solution, since reggie has been portrayed as both sexes by whygena. The best solution when there is no clear tell for male or female seems to be the tag what you see rule, where we base the tags off of physical characteristics other than genitals. But then we get into issues with opinions, since reggie has been shown as a trap and a female in different cases. Where we can't tell for sure it'll always be a crap shoot, so honestly I'd say just leave it to the mods.

A question for someone who knows this site better than me though. Is there a way to "whitelist" something on your blacklist? So that posts with a tag on your blacklist will be shown if they have a tag on your "whitelist?" That might make it better for some people.

Don't mean to start an flamewar, just sharing my opinion. If you disagree, please feel free to tell me why.

You can by putting -(whatever it is) after the blacklisted thing on the same line.

The problem is really that there are several characters of either sex with the same range of androgynous body depictions, which just means whenever tagging protocols shift to one gender the other side gets pissed.

    WHO WOULD WIN?

    are tags actually important?

They are literally the most important thing on this website. The safety rating on an image is also a tag. Tags are the only reason this site is any good and is used by everyone. The fact people keep tags in order is why many artists prefer to dump their work here rather than use a worse site like FA and then afterwords link the image here. I can't begin to work out how you can ask that. You can find what you want here, instead of having unfiltered trash come your way until you find something good by luck. But hey that experience is still available if you just browse normally. I never do though. Every visit here for me means using the search. And every so often I wonder if that obscure cartoon I used to watch has any porn. I type it in and there it is. All porn (And safe stuff if you're into that) that has ever been made (And met the quality standards) right in front of me. This site is fantastic, because of tags.

...Your comment was probably sarcastic wasn't it?

The main problem was that half of the posts should have been ambiguous. you can only go so far with subjective stuff like "wide hips" and "feminine appearance"

It wasn't sarcastic, I genuinely didn't know what they were for other than blocking and searching. Now that I know this I can see why they are handled super seriously .. But, I still think there are a lot of people who bitch about them :/

But on a serious note, the only reason I don't know much about tags is because, w=hen I use this site I just look up e621 animated and go off of the animated tag. That's really all I do. Half the time I don't even log on either.
But thank you for letting me know this. Now a lot of the things I've seen actually make sense. I used to get slightly irritated when I would see arguments in the comments about it .. Now I see why.

I understand folks being upset about it, its when they get hateful and such and poke and prod at the mods almost 'daring' them to mess with the tags whenever a reggie post happened that got on my nerves. I dont see the importance of tags past categorization/ organization either. Honestly I'm in that camp that says fix a mistag and move on. But some folks gotta be shitty about it anyway, and that stuff leads to arguments. I see crap in my feed that I dont wanna see all the time, and I never understood the need to flip shit about it rather than fix the problem, or skip over it if it keeps being un-fixed.

  • I can't believe some people are honestly arguing with the "don't like it, leave" or "it's just some minor shit, start fapping and shut up" defence.

    1. The fact that I use this site does not mean I can't be somewhat discontent with how it works. Will you leave YouTube because it starts favouring daily show hosts over typical, smaller creators?

    2. Just because it's a minor thing doesn't mean it can't be improved. See missing stair analogy.

    Yes, my time to shine!

There is no dedicated whitelist but you can whitelist inside your blacklist using negatives i.e. -. It works like the inverse of searching, e.g. if you blacklist female but want reggie_(whygena) left intact, then you negate what you want:
    female -reggie_(whygena)

So you can do all kinds of fun things like:

    • reggie_(whygena) -male to hopefully(!) only show male Reggie.
    • reggie_(whygena) -female to hopefully(!) only show female Reggie.
    • gore -candy_gore to allow the less bloody gore.
    • cheese_grater -id:6268 Who would blacklist that? RIP

  • We need a tag that shows up in searches for both genders, like an advanced form of ambiguous. When something has this tag, it would show up for male and female searches, almost all Reggie images would work as male or female, this would be a great solution for Reggie and other grey area posts.

Whygenas more upset about offsite harassment from what I can tell since this has been an issue for months and they only seemed to speak out about it when people got into contact with them over the offsite harassment. Granted I dont follow Whygena on Twitter so maybe theres other tweets on there.

  • guys its fucking porn, I understand that it's important to use proper tags, I KNOW I use tags all of the time when I'm in specific moods for specific things, but I don't think its something to harass each other about.

tags are the very core reliable thing this website bases itself around and helps others with the convenience that this website is known for and makes it important that things are tagged correctly so we don't have to deal with seeing the things we don't want to see, but to go to the people (who didn't tag nor post the image in the first fucking place) is just wrong and shameful
