Given the character history, I'd feel remiss not to plug a book about the female Soviet soldiers in WWII. One of the great paradoxes of the Stalinist years was that, with the question of "What is the New Soviet Woman?" still up in the air since the revolution, women were a lot more aggressive in demanding equal shares of the social order, and didn't give a damn what "traditional" gender norms had to say.

From what I can see, it is one of the early models that used the panther-like henshel turret instead of the later u-shaped Porsche turret
