Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.

Description

'Nother new 3D model - LIzard Slave

Anybody remember this character? I think I drew her twice. Not a major character of mine by any means, but I wanted to give making another model a shot, specifically I wanted to try something scaly instead of fluffy to see how it would turn out, and I was quite fond of her design, so she seemed like a good choice.

I know I only just made that male model and haven't done anything with him yet, but I still have so much I need to learn and try when it comes to modelling that I couldn't resist making another thing. Specifically, I wanted to try a new method of making characters this time. Previously I would simply start with my 2D references, add a few verts, and start pulling them around until it looks like a character. It's a bit hard to explain but if you've done any 3D stuff I think you'll know what I mean. The problem with this method is that it's sort of hard to get a sense of the overall shape of what you're making. It's kind of like trying to draw a character without having any setup or loose guide first.

This time around I wanted to learn and experiment with 'sculpting' first. This lets you modify the shapes of your model much the way a sculptor would with clay, pushing and pulling masses around to quickly make the shapes you want. This can act sort of like the 'rough sketch' to later use to make a clean mesh out of. It adds an extra step, since you have to make a second mesh based on this sculpt if you want to use them for animation, but it makes it much easier to get a sense of what you're making so I think it's worth it in the long run. Definitely something I'll want to play around with some more!

As usual, I'm still tweaking and adjusting things so she's far from finished, but I wanted to share what I've done so far. I also whipped up a quick walk cycle if you want to see her in motion- https://e621.net/post/show/1848654

Anyway, hope ya like. Hopefully I should have some more animation stuff done in the nearish future, I'd kind of like to see this character paired up with either (or both?) of the other characters I've made in something filthy, but we'll see!
