  • Whoa! The Redwall series probably the main reason I stumbled into the furry fandom, to bad there isn't a lot of art from those books. The sword is missing the red pommel stone btw.

    It's actually got a lot of pretty mediocre writing that really pops out if you've read the series too many times.

    But I still love the series as a whole and re-read it every couple of years even though they put me to sleep now.

    I'm pretty sure the red stone pommel wasn't added until much later (in the book Mossflower) when it's fixed and renewed.

    I think that is the implication from that scene, though I'm not sure if any individual part of the sword was described in detail in any chronologically-earlier sections.

    The writing is quite formulaic, but it's still pretty enjoyable for a little bit. I'm going to read it to my kids for sure.

    Well, it /is/ a children's book series. Even s, Mr. Jacques did a wonderful job with the descriptions of places and events at times.
