The funny part is that everyone assumes LGBT+ citizens have all the rights their straight counterparts have when we don't. We don't have the protection against anti-discrimination. Some of us don't live in areas where people don't discriminate against us. In my state, I can legally be kicked out of an apartment or even fired for being gay and the law won't side with me. Until I we have full protections, we won't stop marching. Also... pride month has never been about LGBT people being better than straights. I have never felt superior. In fact, I am constantly treated in a way that makes me feel inferior. We cannot stop at gay marriage. We have to go all the way to make things equal. Once we have all of our protections and full rights, then we can speak about the idea of hetero phobia (which, tbh, I very rarely see, and if I see it, it is because that person has constantly been hurt for being gay. Stop the homophobia and the hetero phobia will have no reason to exist).

Just because, where ever you might be, gay people seem to be perfectly accepted and gay pride seems redundant doesn't mean that that's universally true for all of us.
