I am fully aware that certain people on e621 (I have given the permission to repost this image there) are disliking the fact that a WIP I did is considered the first porn of the said Pokemon on the internet. This is coming from a traditional artist instead of a digital one. At this point, I think the majority forgot the rule of Rule 34. No matter how bad it is - we're all here to attempt to be the first to porn something. No exceptions. I didn't become the first to porn Sobble, Froakie (and its evolutions), and Zorua for no reason.
Still, it saddens me that, even though I put up the disclaimer saying "constructive criticism is encouraged" and that I won't bite because of it, people still say things behind my back. You see, I wanted to be DNP on e621 years back but was declined. I am honestly not completely ready to let people post this everywhere because I believe I have much to improve on.
I happily accept criticism. I will not bite; even if you dislike me as a whole. Please tell me what's wrong with my art and what I can do to improve in the future. It also doesn't take long to ask me if I will soon be out of DNP on Paheal - because I asked to be DNP there for the same reason. This is all I ask.

MemberPeople have opinions, something you will eventually have to deal with. The guy actually has a valid point, though I personally don't care that it was a WIP much ; The horrid watermark is more of a concern and a detail to point out for me

MemberI especially like the comments being angry about it being "rushed out, like it's a contest", despite this kinda sorta being a contest among artists as a friendly challenge.

MemberThis looks way better colored than just the sketch. I didnt want to come off as an asshole, I quite like that setting. But if you waited and just colored it before posting just a sketch the people would'nt have been that mad.

MemberThe artist is cool with constructive criticism, but just throwing harsh comments with no substance just hurts the incentive to want to make art at all.
That said, he's willing to:
-take more time to make a quality image
-not use such an obstructive watermark
Just make sure to say why you don't like it instead of just "This sucks."

MemberThere's always going to be an element of speed when something's first announced - I may not like that and think it's as important as a Youtube "FIRST!" comment, but I've come to accept that nonetheless.
But when a piece is done with nearly 100% focused on being first and that's it, I can't help but judge it about the same way that this one was. I don't think it's unfair, although ruder words could certainly be avoided.
As for this, I completely disagree. Rule 34 has nothing to do with speed. It's more about it existing, not existing quickly.
If you want to claim you're the first with a WIP sketch, fine. I'm sure some folks will respect that. Meanwhile my respect goes to a fast post that actually appeals longer than the fifteen minutes of fame it inevitably gets for being "first".

MemberIt's honestly probably a certain individual due to your disagreement with him/her. Its only one person doing it, so I'd assume it's a recent individual that got upset with the debate. And it's only happened after that certain debate.
