I kinda want those satanic piercings.

Those aren't satanic. An upside down cross is the cross of St Peter. I'm gonna go now....

I know that. It's also on the pope's super duper holy pope throne because of the claim of authority going back to Peter. But it's all about the context, as satanists also use the inverted cross. As a piercing, it would be satanic, as getting a body piercing is a sin.

If the don't believe me, consider that both the Church of Satan and the Satanic Temple use the inverted cross.

    Incorrect.

Those groups were also just made up within the past 50 years and are very small compared to Christianity. Probably more people would recognize it as a Christian symbol.

Being that an inverted cross is suppose to be a holy symbol of the catholic church, ask your local catholic priest if getting a body piercing is a sin. Then report back here.

Or you could just read Leviticus.

  • I know I'm mostly being downvoted by catholics, but the inverted cross is both a christian and anti-christian symbol. Everyone here has seen its use as a satanic symbol. You might not like that it is used that way, but it is.

The Church of Satan doesn't use inverted crosses, They don't even believe in The Devil nor God, look it up, this message is coming from a former Catholic just to clear things up.

(Only bothered correcting you because you're condescending to teach everyone about sin and satanism, and stupid mistakes undermine your credibility.)

I'm not Catholic. The Catholic church doesn't have the monopoly on defining what a sin is- but even if it did, body piercings are not clearly addressed in the Bible (even Leviticus, which I've read several times). Since you're encouraging everyone (but yourself) to do research, here are some links on the topic. Each might have its own stance on body piercings, but they all acknowledge that it's up for debate.

The reason I brought up the catholic church is because they're the ones that consider the inverted cross a holy symbol. Many protestants consider it purely satanic, and use the catholics' usage of it as proof of the satanic corruption in the catholic church.

Nothing I said was wrong. I'm well aware that there are other interpretations of the bible. You can make the bible say anything you want by ignoring certain parts of it, or interpreting it in a way to rewrite old law. But Leviticus is VERY clear about it. You're just choosing to ignore the verses you don't like, and so do your sources.

The bible forbids tattoos, piercings, eating lobster, and homosexuality. But you can find christians that have interpreted the bible in a way to ignore those verses.

I did look it up before mentioning it. And both the Church of Satan and the Satanic Temple use the inverted cross.

But you are right that they don't believe in an actual devil.

    So in your view...

One thing I've learned from online discussion, is that anytime someone says "So what you're saying is" or something similar, it always gets followed by something you never said.

I made my point, and you reinforced it. You said the new testament "retracts" the old laws, even though Jesus says he did not come to do that (Matthew 5:17). That's fine if you interpret it that way, it's always better when christians ignore verses about murdering homosexuals, just understand that is what you are doing. And the vision Peter had was about witnessing to gentiles, just read that whole thing it is pretty obvious.

Also, Homosexuality did exist back then, and was recognized by governments. Gay marriage was legal in the Roman Empire before christianity took over.

Yikes, so it is. I'm sorry about that, no more from me on this topic. Shouldn't have taken the bait in the first place.

  • lol this whole argument started because someone called an inverted cross a satanic symbol, which is pretty immediately recognizable in metal and occult culture as true
