Okay, I've officially seen the wackiest shit Star Wars fanart can throw at me.

Now give me a female Boba Fett, dammit.

This is from a deleted page on the star wars fanon wiki.

I'm just assuming this is someone's sona/RP character. Apparently the character was named Katarra and is, as you see, a wookie Sith with an unusual lightsaber. I couldn't find any other info on the artist or character but I figured this was good and unusual enough to warrant preserving and displaying here.

That is the worst light-saber I have ever seen. All it can do is block, thrust maybe, and if she/someone else twisted it around, it would chop off BOTH f her hands.

Highly impractical, yes, but not the worst I've come across. My award for worst design goes to the concept some guy had that involved a casing around the blade to maintain the beam, making it pretty, but entirely useless.

The design here could still be used to chop with, though you'd either have to have a great deal more experience than your opponenet, or just be plain dumb, to use it as a weapon.

And I could be wrong about this, but if you look at the end right end of the Saber, you see that there's screws on the connector. My guess is that it can either be disconnected, or swings out on a swivel. If this idea is maintained, then the idea of having a longer Saber is added, along with having more of a staff/guard kind of Saber.

But like I said, I could be wrong.

You are assuming that the following occurs for that to happen

1 - Someone has to grab the handle which is facing her. Which means they would need to thrust their arms over or under the blade, a quick swipe and she could cut their hands off first.

2 - Even if they did manage to grab the handle, they would need to overpower the wookie's grip, which I highly doubt they would be able to do, given how strong wookies are.

3 - Who the fuck would try to grapple a wookie's weapon, those things are like 7 feet tall, you'd probably want to keep your distance!

Very nicely done art, and the saber is definitely different! Almost makes me think this is what a bat'leth might look like as a lightsaber.
