If that's the case, then 'the big one' is said eruption. The lesser quakes could just be snores, or it could be a giant, pulsing shaft of meat pushing it's way through the ground.

Without the context of dragons, and even with if you don't picture said pulsing shaft of meat being a dragon fucking the ground (for whatever reason), that last one is kind of odd my guy
