JanitorI generally hate when people almost default to "GIF PLZ" comments in many comment sections.
GIF has so many limitations and it bloats easily, so if you want a GIF worth a damn, you'll need to dedicate tons of time to fine tune settings and even then you need to cut down resolution and framerate and are left with color banding and/or dither artifacting everywhere, which is multiplied when the source is compressed goddamn flash video.
Now consider how many hundreds of non-gif animation posts we have here, that kind of time dedication is just insanity.
So if someone only wants a dirty and quick GIF for whatever reason of anything, just drop the file into sites like gfycat or imgur and it should do some automagic computer stuff to get it as GIF to you (or rather as webm and mp4 and gif as fallback, but everyone asking for gif don't mind if it's mp4 for some reason if it's from imgur or twitter). If the service doesn't accept flash, capture it into video with swivel.
Only reason for me creating this was because I did not like how post #1954804 was handled and if we really need gif here specifically then it should at least be decent.
Had to get that out of the system.

MemberWow this gif is choppy. I'll see if I can get a better version of this.

JanitorTo make that happen, you would need to use 50 FPS, but source is 60 FPS. So your choises are either to discard 10 frames every second which would look smoother but stuttery or slow the animation down by 1/6th. In both processes you would be doubling the filesize as well. Some software does work with 10ms frame times, but that's extremely rare and I don't think any browser does.
I do still think that to match the original intention and to make things least choppy the best way is to half the framerate when animation is over 50 FPS, especially as majority of those who want for gif do not even notice that kind of difference (I have seen so many real life comments).
This is why doing GIFs is kinda it's own beast, you do have to make decisions which do effect the animation in some manner and I hate that. Better option would just to do a goddamn WebM where you don't have to think of colors, FPS and filesize and just encode in way that it looks like original. Or APNG.
Also this artist has already moved from flash to sharing all of their work as GIFs and all of their GIFs do have dither pattern visible which is annoying.

MemberLove it when a janitor posts a response to your comment and people automatically think it's negative.
To clarify, i was making fun of the guy who posted "animated/Gif version hopefully?"(post) and got disliked to heck,
now it seems his post has gone into positives again and my comment making fun of him got downvoted even though i share the opinion of Mairo.
There's a small rant of my own
