    no, HELL NO

It ends up being explained that you cannot transfer a person's conscience, but instead create one that gains your thoughts on the matter. Alphonse, for example, was a new entity that had only ever been the suit of armor, and simply thought he was Alphonse. Nina the dog only thought she was Nina the human, upon realizing she wasn't, she could be her own person.

I thought that was refuted because Alphonse and Winry shared a memory that Edward didn't have. Or are you talking about the first FMA anime, which differed from the manga at a certain point?

Admittedly I never watched the second one, so if they played things differently then I can't really argue much.

The first anime ran somewhat parallel to the OG manga, but the major breakoff was when mustang killed lust.

I think the process between Alphonse and Nina was different, though?

Alphonse was just trying to transfer his consciousness into the armor.

Where as Nina was physically combining her body with the dog. There was no transference taking place, it was just a merger of two different entities.

In the first one, the Hormunculi are a lot more difficult to kill. The only way to do so is to lure them inside a transmutation circle with the remains of the person their creators were trying to resurrect. If done successfully, the hormunculus becomes paralyzed, and can then be killed properly.
