Beastars is easily one of my favorite manga, but the adaptation isn't all that great.
Each episode contains most of the important bits of 3 or 4 chapters which ends up cutting out a lot of character interactions, world building and characterization. The show is currently on episode 5, which would be chapter 25 in the manga, to give you a scale of how much they had to cut out.
I would recommend reading the manga over just watching the show, it's currently at chapter 152 and will probably take 3 days to read it all.

I'd say it's really good- Especially if you liked Land of the Lustrous. Because the studio behind the Beastars anime is the same one, and they're godlike at melding 3D CGI with 2D drawing in such a pleasing way.

It may cut out a bit of the world building, and some character moments that make the manga super super good, but is still faithful in what they do and of a great quality

Quality show, quality story, and my god they do some cool things in the anime that just can't be done in drawing (But that goes the same both ways)

I actually think the adaptation is amazing. There simply isn't time for all of the extra scenes from the manga, and they kept the substance of everything while being very faithful to the biggest scenes.

The official English version hits Netflix early 2020.

Yeah, I agree with him, I hadn't liked the way the anime looked from previews so I read the manga *first* so honestly I'd recommend that. They cut out a lot of side details, they even cut out a scene where we find out Louis is fucking strapped and carries a gun on the regular
