It's beautiful ... and it would be even more so if it wasn't that Lynn's genre is still ambiguous -_-...

That... Or that he received surgery to prevent problems related to females or sex for his job.

I’m pretty sure the drooping ears is a sign Lynn is male and yugijak’s surgery is the reason.

Yeah couldn't remember the exact story but Lynn was apparently castrated as part of his position.

So he is most certainly a guy and the kids all adopts.

Not that I find that problematic. If anything I find that a great idea and adorable.

TFW he's a eunuch and still makes you smile like that

I always hoped he was magically repressed like that and the Basitins were not actually that barbaric. Would not be surprised if they were though =(

Basitin are highly resistant to magic.

    "Blind to both genders"

To me that means Asexual, not castrated.
And even if one is Asexual you can get feelings for someone.
The feelings are in your head not the testicles.

That being said it was made pretty clear that steps were taken to ensure the head on his waist doesn't override the head on his shoulders when Sealeen's love potion didn't work.

No one really knows what has been or not been done with him due to his position.

Basitins are immune to magic so that may be why it wont work on Lynn.

My bet is Asexual, but we may never know :)

That the reason he gives for the pheromone potion not working is that he belongs to a caste of gender blind mediaries implies a deliberate construction of the group; it's unlikely they'd rely on self-reported sexuality. Maybe the potion actually didn't work because of innate species resistance to magic (though her claim in the comic suggests it's known to work on them anyway, and seems likely to not even be magic), but his description of the station, coupled with the 'ears are limp for a reason' and the known fact that ear movements are related to arousal suggests biological cause. It is possible that the Basitin biology simply permits a sizeable asexual population (with correlated secondary characteristics that are immediately visible to others in spite of their sex taboos) that make up the messenger caste, but the genetics of maintaining that population would almost certainly be convoluted, and given the prominence of sexual taboos in the society, would likely be a generally more established, accepted class. Given that Lynn appears to approach the topic with some degree of shame, and indicates a certain level of social ostracization, the non-genetic explanation would be far more likely.

Fundamentally, if the messenger class were all simply born 'gender blind', he most likely would have explained so, rather than broach the topic with roundabout euphemisms. The alternative is possible, but based on the degree to which the Basitin cultural psyche has been explored in the media, I feel confident in the posed analysis.

Is implied by the wikia and tv tropes he is chemically castrated

  • Another possibility is that Lynn and other Messengers are simply conditioned to be "gender blind". Similar to, say, a caste being specifically conditioned through life to be, say, resistant to pain or hunger. There's not a biological component to it, but rather a deeply ingrained behavioral aspect, more akin to something like a child soldier
