Vans were actually not initially designed for use in sports, contrary to popular belief. The intent was to make an insanely sturdy shoe with the highest quality canvas that a manufacturer could buy and sell it directly to the public instead of going through a retailer. They were used for some sports and often used on boats due to their good traction, but we're discovered and popularized by skaters in the very early 70s which spiked their popularity among that demographic. Vans execs and founders actually refused advertising for several years until the skating trend took off, then they followed through with that and you have the shoes we know today.

TL;DR: once upon a time, Vans were pretty acceptable footwear to find at a beach. :)

i left the option of that to artist and he tried very hard and put much love to make this so we should accept some compromise
