  • Okay, so, we're biologically wired to discount our relatives as sexual partners. The people you consider as family and grow up with while you were in your prepubescent years (I forget the exact age range, it might be more like when you're a young child) will not be considered sexually attractive to you, even if they are objectively totally hot.
There isn't anything morally wrong with it if there's no chance of pregnancy, it's just very unlikely for it to ever happen because 90% of people have no desire to do it. This is probably where the taboo came from, actually, because it existed before the dangers of inbreeding were well known. Those dangers are very real, by the way. The possible birth defects depend on your genetic history, but there's a 50% chance of one to show up (for each one that CAN show up) between father/daughter or mother/son and a 25% chance for something between brother/sister. First cousins it's 6.25% which is still kindof bad if there are multiple possible defects in your genetics.

That said, there are other problems here. She is much older than he is, for instance! The age difference brings up legitimate moral issues. The comic doesn't seem to care about that at all though, just the incest angle.

Ignore that shit head. Go for it, girl!

Except they have very good points...Luckily neither Kyra or Amon can reproduce so it just becomes taboo, but Kyra is already a biological oddity so taboo just kinda goes weird.

Yea, its one of those things where people find it weird and "icky". So because they are uncomfortable with it, they make up excuses for why its "wrong"

Like, they aren't against it due to the increased risk of birth defect, they are against it because it's "gross" and there just so happens to be a legitimate concern they can lean on as "scientific fact" that its wrong.

Heck, show them an incestuous gay couple and they need to resort to "the bibble says..." To justify why they find it "icky"

  • The main reason would be to prevent awkward family dynamics. What are family reunions going to be like after you breakup with your mom to date your sister?

  • ..you don't screw family members period? Tell that to mother nature...plenty of incest going on out there wolves , lions , lizards you name it... i mean i guess they don't have pets to counter the argument.. but then there's the "they are animals they don't know any better but were are smarter than they are and we can see the consequences"

  • Honestly, I can understand her mind set.

I mean, how can you expect a character who, up until this point, has never had a family to understand how sleeping with them could be seeen as wrong?

  • unrelated question: what does Kyra do for work?
I mean it's never stated and I don't see any evidence of what they do on any of the pages, unless they somehow have one where they work from home with some I.T. company.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one at least mildly perturbed by this incest thing.

I'm quite glad you pointed out that the comic doesn't really acknowledge the whole age difference thing though Kyra focuses on the incest factor (though maybe Anon is an adult now? I don't remember what his age is, but he's looked at as a child so Idk). Society looks down on incest for the most part for the reasons you state, but as long as the relationship itself is healthy (and the people involved consent and are of age) then I guess it shouldn't be anyone's business regardless of the familiar connection. Though as someone points out, partners of incest would also assuredly lead to some pretty awkward dynamics and conversations between them and other family members. Like how would Anon's other mom react to him getting it on with his dadmom? How would other family members? Would they care or would they not give a shit? How would the rest of the world react like Kyra's friends? Are they gonna keep this relationship a secret? Is that a healthy way of approaching this? Lots of questions for what's just a porn comic, but hey it brings up a moral quandary that people can relate to.

Ok, I don't have any personal objections to what you said. You do you. Or your sister or whoever as long as it's consenting adults.

That said: Don't do that to a John Denver song...

It's funny to think the logic behind why incest is a taboo even outside of reproduction purposes is the same logic that was once applied to same sex relationships. We got over (or at least are well in the process of getting over) that problem, after accepting that as long as nobody is having unsafe sex, nobody gets hurt. If all parties are consenting and play the game safe, I see no problem. If not, the relation between the two does not weigh into my feelings toward it at all.

I may not have any interest in others, let alone my own family members, (nearly everyone in my immediate family is horrible to me except my mother, and I only see my mother as a kind caregiver and nothing more,) but I do not judge others for interest they may have in theirs, and if it's mutual, that's okay by me.

It's actually fairly uncommon in nature too, which is why we take note when a species does it regularly.

  • To be fair I never really thought about it that way. I obviously understand the birth defects and such, but yeah. Then again, you would prob be underage if it with ur family or large age difference which usually doesn't end well. Idk.
