He made a post on one of these pages a while ago that it wasn't sustainable to keep going with his normal art style for the comic, the updates would be sporadic and it likely wouldn't finish. So in the interest of finishing the story and having a regular release, he toned down the quality. It sucks, but its pretty understandable.
