This very likely isn't a cannon comic. The poster/artist should clarify as it's certainly confusing to the current plot points happening in the main comic.

Given the latest comics, his issue with Lyre is more... Emotional. Seems like Lyre (and particularly, more feminine guys like him) REALLY reminds him of his ex, which is from the looks of it a sad memory of some sort.
This one fox here, otoh, is rather manlier looking, not tripping that memory.
