^What Blorgzwa said is spot on. You can get tri-phase estim between 3 electrodes, where they form a triangle of current between them. It can be quite nice. :) It is also good of Blorgzwa to add that current over or near the heart is not a good idea! :(

E-stim poles usually way closer to avoid circuit through internal cavities or along major blood vessels. Say, single clip got both electrodes.

Violet wands aren't static, it's a high-frequency current discharge (like "plasma ball toy") off a special transformer. They can be high-power enough to burn skin or do other damage, so caution must be used too.

More likely it's three bipolar electrodes, which can be safely used above the waist. You do raise a good point - don't storm into electrostimulation blindly kids! Do your research and make sure your first time is with a partner versed in it.

You can be perfectly isolated from the floor and still get shocked if there are multiple electrodes attached to you. You can close the circuit between the electrodes. Besides there is a fenomenon such as capacitance and you body has certain capacitance meaning with high enough voltage you can kill perfectly isolated target. Lets say you have a jacobs ladder and touch it while sitting on a wooden chair you have a decent chance of dying as SHOWN by certain well know comedian and electronics expert on youtube.
