  • I am SO fucking lost. This isn't the first time FF has done some step-up story-telling, but this went from "Bird wanting the dick" to "stabbing a demi-divinity creature in an unexplained search for something that may change the world".

  • A phoenix can only be reborn at the moment of it's death. In some legends, it has to be slain by a mortal creature - like 'man' [or in this case, Anthro] - and it's flames rage out of control until it --and a good surrounding area-- are nothing but dust and ash. Then, it rises as a newborn hatchling.

though some legends say it emolates itself in order for it's eggs to hatch properly, leaving its mate [the male] to raise the children on his own.

  • I like the sidestep from "I fell in love with my partner which is completely taboo" to "So I stabbed a mythical phoenix with the dagger of eternal flames"

It's symbolism: The story has a dog stabbing a bird with their weapon until she bursts.

And then there's also this half of the story.

Ok, but what was the point of that? Is Shana going to link the First Flame or something?

Had never heard of that before, a Phoenix having to be stabbed in order for it to die and be reborn. It's interesting.
