  • Ken Sugimori doesn't do all the official Pokemon art any more. He hasn't since at least Gen 6. Tracking down exactly who does is difficult but it's not correct to attribute all art made past that point to him.

He does do official art like this, however the task to draw the "main" artwork of mons is now shared with other artists. Some of the modern ones have been made by Ken, and in fact he generally finalizes all pieces of artwork in the end (usually in concept art), but you are right in that not all are ONLY by him.

EDIT: Actually, since he finalizes all of the artworks, he is at minimum the artist of the official pokemon art. See: Bulbagarden's Ken Sugimori art category. The artists he collaborates with on some of the art, however, are indeed unknown. Not gonna edit for now, but may add artist's if they've been confirmed to have worked on a piece.

Correction: A lot of the newer art has been designed by British graphics designer James Turner, who joined Game Freak in 2010 and designed 7 Pokémons for Pokémon Black & White, Vanillite being his first Pokémon.

He became the lead designer for all of the Pokémons in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Lead designer, yes, but Sugimori still finalizes the artwork. He and James have spoken about doing so; James and other artists may do the base concepts, but Sugimori in the end finalizes the designs as well as the single species base official artwork.
