More that Natani was more cutesy before her soul literally got merged with her brother's, with his filling in some missing pieces in her's. It's more evident in how young Natani acts

What CamKitty said. Much of the "Natani" we have come to know is actually a personality created from the original's shattered soul combined with that of her brother's. It is why she has gender dysphoria, has had massive conflicted feelings for Keith, etc. Since the introduction of the mini-Natani/Youngtani shard locked in Natani's soul-realm-whatever it is, we can see Natani's original personality. Much more playful, much more assertive, much more confident, and more comfortably feminine yet still very tomboyish.

I thought that when the connection between Natani and Zen got cut, and after the whole debating with youngtani, he came to the conclusion that even before the soul merging he had some gender dysphoria
