There's actually a long standing traditional association between chinese dragons and pearls.

It's only mentioned briefly on the wiki article, but I can recall it mentioned in a few other resources. All of which I'm too lazy to look up right now.

I actually have a shirt that has a chinese dragon wrapped around a ball . . . I guess it's a pearl . . . from the conversation . . . well anyways . . . I just thoought I should tune in. :3

A Chinese dragon's pearl is symbolic of the world by some others there's a connection between dragon and pearl, either way in many stories the pearl itself has a special/magical property
