  • The cuteness of spiders is considerably understated and overlooked. Many spiders kick-ass, such as the harmless jumping spiders my sister and I find all over our backyard. She cares for a lot of animals that most women would be creeped out by. :P

Insecticide has no effect on spiders.

Most spiders are non aggressive and can be handled with no trouble at all, however there are a few spiders that will actually go out of their way to attack a human such as the baboon tarantula, australian funnel web spider and the brazilian wandering spider, but the brazilian wandering spider and the australian funnel web spider are the ones to really watch out for as their venom can kill in 15minutes to an hour.

That's one of the good sides of living up here in the cold north: no lethal arachnids. We have plenty of spiders...but they're all harmless cuties.

By the way, this is either female or immature; adult males have pedipalps that resemble boxing gloves.

  • I think this spider is immature, as its transparent skin suggests it just molted.

While I like to live near spiders,I don't think most of them are cute. The Salticidae are an exception. I once write a story involving a war between spiders and parasitoid wasps...

  • "All I want is to be loved, yet everyone I meet screams like a little schoolgirl at the mere sight of me and then throws whatever they can grab at me... this one girl actually grabbed her mother-in-law and hurled her at the wall I was sitting on. Why does no one want me...? ;_;"
