Id like to add onto your statement by saying this world has robots, would I be going to far in assuming they also know how cybernetics work, the guy could easily get the money from family or the crew should he escape and do such a procedure. Its also obvious that a bullet to the brain isn't instant brain death here either so such surgical operations could be possible. Heres hoping when she says "permanently" that thats the truth.

So she can be saved from being shot in the head, but he can't recover from a spine shot?
