It shows us a possible not too distant future, in which Natani died and it seems that the only one that stayed with Keith was Madelyn, a dark, sad and heartbreaking future for the Basitin. By the way Keith finished it will be very difficult for Madelyn to regain her spirit and her will to live.

He knows Keidrans don't live as long as humans or basitins he'd only become depressed if she were killed and if he were helpless to save her or if it was Alaric's death all over again.

The appearance of Keith and Madelyn seems to denote that they are more "older". Hinting that years have passed and perhaps Natani died of natural causes (old age), but this is only my conclusion that I come to consider interpreting (everyone is open to interpreting it in their own way).

i agree with you on it

I suspect it was that Natani died, and very shortly before this image is set - that looks a lot like a funerary urn in the bottom right of the picture.

It's no wonder he's devastated - I know I would be.

Well at least in this version, there is a alternative version with Keith talking and based on what he's saying it seems to be more in line with what werewolfwill was saying.

Look at the necklace on it. That's Natani's.

I did some research. For Keidran, dying at 24 would be them living a long life. Basitin live to be about 60. Keith is 19 and Natani is 13. So at best, Keith will have another 11 years before she dies, leaving him alone to live the other half of his life without her...

There's too much soul hurting juice in here, so look at it this way:

Maddie's coming to check in on him, so hopefully Natani isn't the last time he finds love!

Maddie wants to be the next basitin ambassador, so maybe that’s why she hangs around Keith in this dark future. Also, (this May be assuming things) perhaps in this future, Natani and Keith never end up having offspring or something (intentionally or not), so Keith is only reminded of Natani’s death, rather than life.

Also, is that little cup next to the urn supposed to be for Natani? If so, that’s heart-wrenchingly sad! :(

I know it's been a while but basitin can't reproduce with keidran sadly. Tigers and wolves can breed because they are both keidran. Where as Basitin are an entirely different race altogether and fall under a different god. It would take divine intervention for them to conceive like it did with Trace and Flora. There's always the option of adoption tho.
